about
“Signs” is a song that takes the listener on an emotional journey through the process of self-discovery. The mixtures of emotions that accompany the process are represented both lyrically and musically. The bridge of the song alludes to that feeling in the air before a storm. As Amy puts it, “I feel alive when I'm standing outside watching dark storm clouds seeping towards me dragging a curtain of rain beneath them. That energy that's tangible - that's the feeling I had when I wrote Signs. That something is coming and the very air is full of anticipation like the coming of a storm.”
lyrics
All around us signs are pointing
They are guiding us to where we’re going
I am wondering which path to follow
What’s the right way, what lies in shadow
It’s all around us, it’s finally found us I know that I can not pretend
The tide is turning and you are learning that on me you can depend
Say you love me, say you need, say you’ll be there ‘till the end, ‘till the end.
You’re all----- that I want
You’re all---- that I need
Can you feel it, this whispered knowing
My heart is racing, fate is pulling
Could you love me? Could you care?
Would you hold me? Would you be there?
It’s all around us, it’s finally found us I know that I can not pretend
The tide is turning and you are learning that on me you can depend
Say you love me, say you need, say you’ll be there ‘till the end, ‘till the end.
You’re all---- that I want
You’re all---- that I need
Fate aside I wonder if you can hear the thunder
A storm approaching strong and fast
I feel a change is coming, the very air is humming
I want this feeling to last.
It’s all around us, it’s finally found us I know that I can not pretend
The tide is turning and you are learning that on me you can depend
Say you love me, say you need, say you’ll be there ‘till the end, ‘till the end.
You’re all---- that I want
You’re all---- that I need
